Our largest program during the school year is in the classroom for public and private schools, and private groups like scouts. Schools work with OSE/CSF to offer weekly classes from 1-2 hours long in physics, chemistry, biology and geology. Often schools request series of weekly classes in the fall, another in the early spring, and a third later in the spring. OSE/CSF works with a parent or teacher who helps get the word out and sets up times and days. Classes can be during the day or after school, and some schools use early dismissal days. Classes can be paid for by the school, the parents or both.

Our goal is to show that science is fun, and that students are a lot smarter than they think. Advanced concepts are presented in small steps. The student centered, active learning is very valuable, especially when natural curiosity is abundant and early success is important.

Classroom and Afterschool Programs are around the Santa Cruz, San Jose, San Juan Bautista and Monterey areas. Other programs throughout the week offer personalized tutoring and private classes.

Outdoor Day Adventure field trips are in and around Santa Cruz, Capitola and Rio del Mar areas. See calendar for highlights. Thank you!
